Pet Loss and Preparation Support Group

March 26, 2016 11:00 AM

As pet owners ourselves, we have all felt the pain and grief from the loss of a beloved pet. Please know that we are always here if you have questions about your pet’s case, or just need someone to talk to. Iowa Veterinary Specialties’ commitment to you and your pet extends beyond our walls. That is why our Hospice and Palliative Care Department is hosting a free monthly Pet Loss and Preparation Support Group.

Pet Loss Support Group:
Iowa Veterinary Specialties hosts a monthly support group for family members who wish to discuss the loss of their pet in an open, comfortable, and inviting group session. The support group will be facilitated by John Bisenius, a Temporary Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Meetings will be held at the Franklin Avenue Library meeting room in Des Moines, and it is open to the public. Registration is optional, but will allow for Iowa Veterinary Specialties to contact you for any updates or cancellations*. The group will meet for approximately 2 hours which will allow the facilitator to provide guidance about how a support group setting functions.

Upcoming Dates:

March 26, 2016, 1pm-3pm, Small Conference Room

April 16, 2016, 1pm-3pm, Small Conference Room

If necessary, you may schedule an appointment* with John Bisenius, TLMHC at New Beginnings Counseling Service.

Phone:515-401-6886

*Private counseling sessions are not provided by Iowa Veterinary Specialties. Please check with your insurance provider if mental health is covered on your plan. Fees such as copays or deductibles may apply. John Bisenius, TLMHC does accept patients with Medicaid.

As always, Iowa Veterinary Specialties is open 24/7 and is available to lend a listening year.
