Policies & Fees

Iowa Veterinary Specialties is a full service, emergency and specialty hospital providing a broad range of services including emergency, surgery, and exotic. For emergency visits, if you are able to call to alert us, please do so, as it allows us to prepare for your pet's arrival. Specialty services (Surgery & Exotic) may be scheduled through your daytime veterinarian. We treat dogs, cats, and some of our doctors will see pocket pets small reptiles. We do not treat large (farm) animals or wild animals. All patients seen through our Emergency department are seen on a triage basis (most serious cases first). We are forbidden by law to dispense or prescribe medication without performing a physical exam.

Emergency Consultation - $175

Surgery Consultation - $190

Exotic Consultation - $130

Emergency Exotic Consultation - $195

We do require a deposit for Surgery & Exotic appointments. The deposit will be fully refunded if the appointment is canceled with a minimum of a 48-hour notice.

Payment Options

Full payment is due at the time of service. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit cards, Cherry, Care Credit, ScratchPay, cash, business checks, cashier's checks, and money orders. 

Cherry

Cherry is one of our third party financing options that helps you spread out your pet's treatment costs into smaller, more manageable payments. To apply for Cherry, please click here. 

CareCredit

Third Party Financing through Care Credit is available. Special terms will apply to qualifying purchases once you have been approved and have decided on a plan that best fits your needs. Interest will be charged to your account from the purchase date at the APR for purchases if the purchase balance is not paid in full within the promotional terms set by the plan you have chosen.
