Iowa Veterinary Specialties Preceptorship Program
Eligibility: Any DVM student in their clinical year
2 week program, scheduled year-round on an individual basis, unpaid
The IVS preceptorship program provides both ISU and non-ISU veterinary students in their clinical year of training with hands-on and real-life experience in a 24/7 emergency & specialty hospital. Primary focus will be with the Emergency service, and there are opportunities for exposure to specialty surgical service and/or exotics service. Focus will be on encouraging students to step into a “doctor” role in a supervised manner.
Iowa State University DVM students are able to receive 2-credits for the experience that will count towards their required 4th year credits. Dr. April Blong will serve as the faculty sponsor for all ISU preceptor students.
